Fibronectin/integrin interaction induces tyrosine phosphorylation of a 120-kDa protein.
We describe a 120-kDa protein (pp120) that is phosphorylated on tyrosine in cells attached to fibronectin-coated surfaces. The protein appears to be located in focal contacts where it codistributes with beta 1 integrins. pp120 is distinct from the beta 1 subunit of integrins and from vinculin and alpha-actinin. pp120 is rapidly dephosphorylated in cells suspended by trypsinization but becomes r...

متن کاملUrokinase-type plasminogen activator induces tyrosine phosphorylation of a 78-kDa protein in H-157 cells.
Studies from our laboratory have shown that exposure of human lung epithelial cells to urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) induces their proliferation. This effect of uPA is likely to occur via activation of signal transduction pathways. To elucidate uPA-induced signal transduction mechanisms, we exposed H-157 cells to uPA and determined the induced tyrosine phosphorylation profile of protein...
متن کاملARIA, a protein that stimulates acetylcholine receptor synthesis, also induces tyrosine phosphorylation of a 185-kDa muscle transmembrane protein.
Motoneurons promote the accumulation of acetylcholine receptors (AChRs) at developing neuromuscular synapses. The AChR-inducing activity protein ARIA, which is purified from chicken brain and increases the synthesis of AChRs in chicken myotubes, may play a crucial role in this process. Here we show that ARIA induces the rapid tyrosine phosphorylation of a M(r) 185,000 protein (p185) in muscle c...
متن کاملNerve growth factor induces protein-tyrosine phosphorylation.
When the sympathetic nerve-like cell line PC12 is exposed to nerve growth factor (NGF), there is a rapid and transient phosphorylation of tyrosine residues in cellular proteins, as demonstrated by immunoblotting of cell extracts with high-affinity polyclonal antibodies specific for phosphotyrosine residues. Epidermal growth factor (EGF), which does not cause the morphological differentiation of...
